Who is Bernarda Jurič?
She is a 45-year-old athlete from Slovenia and has earned herself a masters’ degree in technical environmental protection. She is known by many as a sport extremist and describes herself as a woman who aspires to stand out and be unique. She spends most of her spare time ultramarathon cycling and cross-country skiing. She sets her goals higher than most as to differentiate her from others and to promote her belief that anything is possible if you sacrifice enough time and effort.
In early 2018 she successfully completed the ‘Indian Pacific Wheel Ride’ (IPWR) – a 5,500-kilometre route from Perth to Sydney without an escort – in 27 days. She now holds the title of the first Slovenian woman to complete this extreme ride.
She has accepted a second challenge in 2018 and completed ‘Terra Australis Bike Epic’. This is one of the most challenging cycling races in Australia, stretching 6,500km from Cape York to Wilsons Prom as well as conquering 65,000 metres in height along the way. With completion of this race she is the first person to cycle Australia from East to West and North to South in the same year. Cycling was always a part of her life and it has inspired her to be more connected to herself and love her life.
